We now make all of our cords in-house! The motivation was to supply cinch makers with custom options in a standard 1/4 inch diameter cord size with 16 single yarns. Cinch cord of the traditional 8 "ply" cord has been seen ranging in diameters from 1/8 inch to 3/8 inch. Our 16 (strand/yarn) cord is made of 96% mohair from young angora goats with 4% wool from the Perendale breed of sheep developed in New Zealand.
We have, on-hand, a limited amount of 100% mohair in standard size 2 ply (from adult angora goats) which can be plied into cord measuring approximately 1/4 inch (gauge varies somewhat between colors). Please call or e-mail for a list of these colors and then select "other" from the color menu and write your specifics in the text box.

Our custom-made equipment is currently limited to accomplishing the first half of the steps used in full size cord production. The smaller cords take substantially more time to make and require us to completely hand-ply.

Standard diameter (1/4 inch)[16 ply] cord, 3/4 gauge (3/16 inch) [12 ply], 1/2 scale (1/8 inch)[8 ply], 3/8 gauge (3/32 inch)[6 ply], mini-cord (2mm)[3 ply].
Non-rigid {Soft-lay} or period authentic hard-twist.
Packaged as loose lay in a bag (least expensive) or hand-wound onto cardboard core for most convenient handling.
Remember to write your colors in the appropriate cord style box. Variegated (yarns dyed with several colors) and pattern cords have a per/foot upgrade fee.
We do our best to provide distinctively identifiable shades, however, colors will vary due to the custom nature of hand-dying. Since Darin makes this cord in-studio please allow 4 to 8 weeks for delivery.
*Hard-twisted cord is currently made on a hand-operated rope-machine limiting continuous lengths to approximately 60 feet. If you would like hard-twist longer than 60 feet or have other specifics in mind, please contact us for a custom quote.
